The best team that I ever worked with was in the very early years of my career.
What made the team experience memorable:
- Learning together: All of us in the team were constantly learning from and with each other. We would stay back on some days just to ideate and discuss.
- There was high psychological safety ( a term I only learnt much later). But in general, there was a feeling of being supported, knowing if I needed help someone would step up.
- Work felt like flow: The work was engrossing. There was a purpose and drive and a feeling that we and our work mattered
- A secure leader: A very secure leader who gave us all the space to try new things and fail. there was a feeling of being valued and appreciated.
- Camaraderie: The atmosphere even in the midst of a crisis was would jovial. We would not waste a moment to pull each other’s leg.
The experience of working with this team had a huge impact on who I eventually became as a professional and as a leader. And most of us from that team have continued to be lifelong friends.
