What gets you up in the morning?

purpose

I get up at 4:30am every morning without an alarm.

Then I go to the gym and work out for 2 hours. Everyday.

Not me!

This was a young driver from DriveU telling me about his day. These were pre-Covid times, and he was driving me to a meeting. We got chatting along the way.

When I asked if this was his full time job, he surprised me by saying that he was a Formula-4 driver. He used driving to supplement his income.

His grueling routine was part of maintaining his fitness and weight for Formula 4.

He was a commerce graduate from a University in Australia who quit his finance job to move back to India and pursue his passion for Formula driving.

He told me that back in Australia his job required him to reach work at 9:00am. He confessed that he never made it to work on time  because he invariably overslept on most days.

This conversation made me wonder, “What pushes a young 24-year old to get up at 4:30am when he struggled to do that at 7:00am?”

The simple answer is “Purpose”!

Purpose is the single most powerful motivator for people to take on and deliver the most difficult feats.

Do you have a purpose that makes you get up in the morning before the alarm?

If not, what would finding such a purpose do for you?
