The Gap Between Skill And Performance

Two people with the same skills and experience perform differently in the same environment.

When a person does not meet performance requirements it is assumed that there is a gap either in skill or motivation(Skill vs Will)

But this is not always true.

If equal knowledge and motivation do not mean equal performance where does the gap lie?

It lies in the other factors that drive performance besides skills.

Some of these are:

  1. Purpose
  2. Limiting Beliefs
  3. Behaviours (conscious and subconscious)
  4. Habits and routines
  5. Values
  6. Identity
  7. Triggers

And when the performance gap stems from any of the above, skill training and motivation stop being the answer to achieving better performance.

What #highachivers are able to do consistently is align all the above factors with their skills to get the best performance.
