“I’m looking for someone to give me advice.”
I hear these words a lot from prospective clients.
They say this because they believe:
- that it is a coach’s job is to give advice.
- they need advice to resolve their problems.
And that’s where they have it wrong
A coach’s job is NOT to give you advice.
And a lot of times they think they need advice, but they don’t.
As a practicing coach for over a decade, I am yet to meet a person who does not have the capability, creativity or resources to resolve their issues.
What they do lack is :
- An understanding of their strengths.
- The ability to see through the mist of doubts, fears and noise.
- The ability to see things from different perspectives
- The ability to break out of limiting beliefs and mindsets
As a coach I support my clients to work through things that get in the way of their clear thinking.
I help them think through and explore all their options
And then make decisions from a place of clarity
Because to solve their problems, most people don’t need advice.
All they need a quite, safe space to reflect. And a thinking partner who can support them in their thinking process.
