“So, what do you do?” is a question that always unsettles me.
Not because I don’t know what I do.
But when I say ,” I am a Leadership and Team Coach” I am never sure if the person I am speaking to has understood what I mean.
Coaching is perhaps the most misunderstood professions of all.
Some people think, I am a corporate trainer who conducts workshops. Others think that I am a “guru” and mentor who regularly keeps spouting nuggets of wisdom.
There is however a big difference that separates my work from other similar professions.
The difference is between teaching you and “helping you learn on your own”.
As a coach I believe that you are a resourceful and creative individual who has the ability to find your own solutions.
Yes, each and every one of you!
There might be barriers holding you back like lack of clarity, conflicting priorities, limiting beliefs, subconscious habit and behaviors.
As a coach I help you to tap into your own resources.
I also help you build the capacity to do so in the future too.
I help you find your own way to solve your problem.
How do you answer when people ask you “what do you do?”
Is there a difference between what you say and what people understand? If yes, what do you do to address it?
