Is your team keeping pace?

pace

Does this sequence sound familiar?

> You have a whole bunch of interesting ideas
> You get your team charged up and motivated to execute them.
> But when your team starts its execution, things move much slower than you anticipated.
> In the meantime you’ve thought up the next set of brilliant ideas. But your team isn’t available to take them on.
> Or maybe they do take them on but then the first set of things is left incomplete.

I bet it frustrates you to no end when your team just doesn’t keep up with the speed of change or growth that you want to achieve

You might often recall that when you were in their role you could have probably delivered everything on your list single-handed

And sometimes you just talk charge and end up doing everything on your own.

But here are some facts you need to accept:
🔵 Your team is NOT you.

🔵 They are people with different strengths and capabilities.

🔵 They have different experiences

🔵 And they work at a different pace

And expecting them to work at the same speed as you is only going to lead to disappointment for you.

And frustration for them.

Here is what you could do instead:

> Agree on the number of initiatives each person can take on. Keep individual skills, experience and interests in mind.
> Prioritize the number of ideas you want to work on depending on your team’s bandwidth.
> Mutually agree on the time it will take to complete each activity.
> For the remaining ideas perhaps choose to pick them up later.
> If you must get them executed now consider dropping some others from the plan. Or hire additional resources.
