Do you often find yourself “buzzing” with energy at the end of your day and unable to switch off?
I often have clients talk to me about how at the end of the day they struggle to unwind, stop thinking and go to sleep.
Know this – You will not be able to switch off your brain on demand.
That is NOT how the brain works!
Instead, if you want to know how to slow down and unwind refer to any parenting book for babies. đ¶
There is generally a ritual for bedtime that goes like this:
> The first step is to cut off all stimulation – Dim the lights, and remove distractions and loud sounds.
> The second step is to create a calm atmosphere. Play soothing music, and give them a warm bath and a warm beverage.
Both steps allow babies to relax and settle in for a restful night.
And just because we grow up the rules don’t change.
To relax and sleep the human brain needs to be cut off from stimulation and find a calming space.
So then next time you are struggling to unwind and catch some sleep, try doing just that.
And if you are wondering why restful sleep is important – Spend an hour with a baby who hasnât slept well and you’ll know. đ
