10 life lessons from a toddler

I have a 20 month old son and I thought I had to teach him the rules of life……….till I realized I had it all wrong.

  1. If you really want something try every way you know to get it. Sometime a sweet smile works but, sometimes you just have to yell the roof off!
  2. Practice makes perfect. Keep trying and you will eventually get it right. Yes it may involve a few falls and bumps but that’s the only way you learn…. walking, climbing, running…and pretty much everything else in life.
  3. If someone tells you not to do something, listen to them…then try again after 5 Min’s
  4. Your today does not define your tomorrow. If you can’t climb the couch today try again tomorrow. Who knows what might have changed.
  5. A good rest and a full tummy is essential to have fun. Else you are just a cranky baby making everyone around you miserable.
  6. A smile can accomplish a lot. Especially if it’s a genuine one!
  7. Move on. If a toy is broken it’s OK to feel bad for a while , but there is always another toy that can capture your interest.
  8. Believe that there is nothing you can’t do; even if others tell you otherwise.
  9. Explore. The world is a big beautiful mystery. Be fascinated by it
  10. Have fun. That’s all there is to it. If you are not enjoying what you are doing try something else.
